Dijie Zhu
I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate from UCLA. Before UCLA, I completed my B.Eng. through the UESTC and University of Glasgow joint programme, graduating with UK First Class Honour.
My research interests center on reliable and trustworthy machine learning systems for robotics and embodied AI, including Sim2Real, policy evaluation, uncertainty estimation, reinforcement learning, computer vision, and semi supervised learning for image recognition. Broadly, I am interested in building AI systems that are accurate, data efficient, trustworthy, and useful in real world decision making settings, especially when decisions must be made under uncertainty.
I am currently a Research Assistant at UCLA TAMS Lab, advised by Prof. Chen Tang, where I work on sample efficient policy evaluation for autonomous systems and embodied agents. This project studies how to estimate expensive policy performance using cheaper simulation signals, large scale scenario data, and uncertainty aware evaluation.
Previously, I worked with Prof. Suhas Diggavi on semi supervised learning for image recognition, focusing on dynamic thresholding, class balanced consistency, and label efficient learning. I also have earlier research experience in wireless communications and signal processing, including in band full duplex self interference cancellation and nonlinear distortion correction.
